Victim of Identity Theft, How do I get the accounts removed from my credit report?0kangaroo2012-11-05 23:19:43
My daughters fiance just got a letter in the mail from a collection agency last week. He is 22 years old and has never had nor has he ever applied for any type of credit. The collection agency says it is for a loan from 2008. I had him go to and get his free credit reports. There are two accounts listed as charge-offs from 2008 (I am having trouble finding out exactly what they are but it appears one is for a credit card and the other must be the loan the collection agency is calling about.) The point is neither one is his. It turns out that his stepmother and his father used his social security number and opened the loans, they admitted it. They also have a combined cable/dsl/phone service in his name and they owe $748. He has went to the sheriffs office and we have a copy of the police report. I also had him file a complaint with the FTC. My question is who do I need to send copies to to have this information removed from his credit file, the credit bureaus, the people reporting or both? Also what do we send copy of the police report and any other information that we have? Thanks to all who answer
Declined for secure credit card.. maybe victim of identity theft?2tyra cambell2012-10-20 17:52:56
I got a secured credit card through Bank of America . Now it was my understanding that these letters were tion for people with bad credit. I admit, I've never had a previous loan or loans or payments over time , so you have no credit history . MedlinePlus MedlinePlus I am concerned about identity theft yet . While I was in college in the early part of this year , I had my computer hacked and stolen some passwords . I do not think any of my financial information was made because I saw no change. MedlinePlus MedlinePlus Anyway , it is quite common that fell for a secured credit card when you have absolutely no credit history ? Or is that someone using my name , and running my credit score way down without even knowing it ? How the hell do I build some credit , then?

I do not know how many of you know this , but there are some scammers in India call people , saying they took illegal loans , etc. threaten you with jail , federal crime , etc. They called me yesterday , I was going , until my overrheard husband and he said it was a scam . I called the police and we filed an FBI report . MedlinePlus MedlinePlus Anyway , when I called , they had the last four digits of my social security number , my email and my address . I've looked online this exact scam , and it seems that they are people of identity theft. But still ... What information people need to be a victim of identity theft ? maybe only have the last four digits of my social security number . MedlinePlus MedlinePlus I was looking online some steps you can take to prevent identity theft , putting an alert on things, etc , but I'd sleep easy tonight .... thoughts ?

I tried to get my free annual credit report from Equifax online , and after entering my social security number and other personal information , said they found my file . Just to check it was me , the next page we read : "It seems that may have taken a loan sometime around January 2004 ... " MedlinePlus I have never taken a loan ! And I've always rented ! What should I do ? Contact Equifax ... or someone else? Could this be identity theft ?
What do i do about identity theft?1Lo2012-09-19 08:45:04
I applied for my first free checking account yesterday . my credit was stopped , and there were 3 things that I have absolutely no idea. I will pay a house in 2004 , a rental car in 2007 , and another mortgage or loan in 2009 . I have not done any of these things - in fact, in 2004 i was 13/14 years of age in 2007 16/17 and May09 was 18, but I did nothing of the sort. I tried to get my credit report , but because I can not agree with the fraudulent information , will not let me see her . I put all my information , then displays these transactions and asks me what bank you use and the amount of money spent on it - I can not answer this correctly , so do not let me see my credit report . What I can do? ! ? ! I'm only 19, I have no idea what to do with this. i filed a complaint with the FTC online , but I worry that will never contacted me to help. What should I do ? !

Tonight I tried to access my free annual credit report online . At each identity verification agencies , all correctly answered , then everyone said the information was incorrect . The questions that we did not recognize similar in each site : The records indicate that you opened a home equity loan in October 2011 , have you ever lived in these cities ( list of about 5, none of whom had previously resided . ) He was also asked to verify a former roommate . Each correctly answered me , however , was blocked from entering incorrect information . MedlinePlus Is it a red flag for possible identity theft ?
