I recently learned that I have to have major surgery . I will recover anywhere from 4-8 weeks unless complications. I have about $ 1400 a month in private student loan payments ( $ 1,200 , $ 200 federal . ) While I can collect short term disability , will not be the total amount that I work full time . I will also have some medical expenses that I need money for that period of time . MedlinePlus

What are my options in terms of temporarily stop payments on these loans ( or significantly reduce the amount of payment ? ) Is it possible to take an adjournment if for medical reasons ? Or am I stuck having to take an indulgence ?
