Navy Medical Program?0My dancer chick2012-11-03 10:15:26
I'm 24 years old and I'm thinking about joining the Navy's medical program to become a physician. I have a bachelors in biology with a minor in chemistry. I want to join the navy because i think it would be very fulfulling to have the opportunity to practive medicine where its needed most. Plus not having any debt at the conclusion of medical school is a nice bonus. My questions is... Do you have any advice or opinion regarding this route? I'm also thinking about just taking a loan and going to medschool without enlisting. (Please only comment if you have direct personal experience). Any advice or tip would be very helpful. (I haven't talked to a recruiter yet). Thank you in advance to whoever offers any answers.
How about a government medical loan program?2aditya2012-10-14 04:50:02
As more free market solutions to health problems , how about a federal program as college loans for people who need expensive procedures . Overall, I pay cash when I see a doctor. A few years ago , when my girlfriend needed a procedure, he must put 14K on my credit card. That kind of sucked, but
Medical doctors: what do you know about the NHSC program?1Ekridge2012-11-02 22:39:03
I'm starting my first year of medical school soon, and I went to the NHSC (National Health Service Corps ) scholarship that would pay for tuition , books , etc. If I agree , I could graduate from high school with zero debt . MedlinePlus MedlinePlus But I wonder , how much doctors paid for their service obligation ? I imagine it's probably less than what doctors can earn in the private sector , but how much less? If the doctor's salary is significantly lower , it is still worth having medical school at public expense ? MedlinePlus MedlinePlus Just thought you should know before you commit , in case you get stuck earning something like $ 75,000 for four years when I could be making $ 150K in place , even if I had to pay about $ 30,000 a year in payments student loans . < Br > MedlinePlus What do you think ? MedlinePlus MedlinePlus Also, what is the probability that the government requires me to work in an area that will not? I'd really like to stay in the Pacific Northwest, especially Oregon or Washington . MedlinePlus MedlinePlus Thank you.

OBAMA: 1-What about more public medical schools? 2- Physicians (on salary) on a loan repayment program?0Rodolfo2012-08-22 23:40:24
More medical centers (schools and hospitals ) would ensure that the government provides the funds , and is better able to negotiate a deal with potential medical students , both join a loan repayment program , similar to the existing for Indian reservations and " disadvantaged areas " . That would accomplish many things at once , doctors would remain in line with its core values ( Hippocratic Oath ) without the enormous pressure of a loan repayment , the pressure under which tend to lose their human side , and inland cities would have to bounce the free care they so desperately need . Not to be cynical, but I have no illusions about the success of a universal health care system , as long as corporate America has its tentacles well around, so let's be practical , and go to great strides , until, as a people , we raise our consciousness level and decide to change things . MedlinePlus " The most beautiful woman can only give what she has," so let's be realistic .
