How do some afford college?

Hello , I have 21 years who recently decided it was best for me to attend college. Since high school I had a great working car again, I was completely independent . Everything was fine , until I lost my job . Still working but not in an ideal place making minimum wage . With much time on my hands I realized I could also go to school and do it the right way . The only problem is that it is pricey . MedlinePlus MedlinePlus I enrolled in a local community college , the financial aid application was denied . In my fafsa parental income is too high . I did however receive a fee waiver for them my classes are free. Which still leaves me with other expenses such as books and transportation . Luckily my parents give me a roof over my head for living expenses are minimum. MedlinePlus MedlinePlus What I want to know is how some students who are in a similar situation as I can afford it? I'm talking about living away from home , working part time, going to school full time to time to play COD :) They are very expensive , especially here in California . I did my barley making ends meet making $ 30 per hour , how do ? MedlinePlus MedlinePlus I am aware of student loans and guarantors such but also require those who do not. Direct Federal loans are limited , I mean is there anything else that I'm not aware of?
