I am the co -signer on a car loan and the owner is filing Chapter 13 bankruptcy , but the car will not add to the file. I am the driver of the car and have been making payments on it ( $ 430/mo for a Pontiac = scam ) and they can not afford the payments any longer . I tried talking to Chrysler Financial to solve this problem , but are not willing to help in any way . I want to quit , but the owner refuses to let it go and I can not keep paying for it. I tried refinancing it , but I can not because I have enough credit (loans my students are the only thing in there) and sucked the owners credit . Does anyone have any options beside a voluntary surrender of the car ? Only 24 and I have to admit that I made a terrible mistake ( I was only 19 when I got the car ) and need a solution . I do not want to have to give it up because I want to make a living for myself and not wait until you are 34 to do so . The owner is 68. I do not know what else to do . HELP !

You voluntarily accepted this responsibility when you signed. I do not know what do expect Chrysler Financial - will not relive your responsibility . Either continue making payments or down with the ship .
