I'm a college student trying to buy a car from a guy and I'm not exactly sure how. MedlinePlus MedlinePlus Should I take a loan and pay in advance with him ? Do I have to pay directly to increases in some way ? How I can check the vehicle history ? How I can protect myself if it ends up being a lemon for some reason ? MedlinePlus MedlinePlus Also, what should I do with my old car , which is probably worth about $ 3,500 ? Should I try to sell it privately? MedlinePlus MedlinePlus I'm pretty clueless , so any help / suggestions / advice is much appreciated !

I will try to be exhaustive and brief. MedlinePlus MedlinePlus Try to avoid taking a loan if possible. The interest makes the total cost of the more expensive car . If possible , so far without a car, sell your private car and then find a car to buy . Pay with a cashier's check from your bank . Very few sellers are willing to accept payments and trade in a car is a ripoff. Always run a Carfax report on the car to the story and ask for service records . The car does not come with a warranty unless it still has some factory warranty left . I'm so glad you are not buying a new car. Depreciation and interest are murderers ! Good Luck .
