In all my years in the financial support of the only consistent thing I see is that students and parents of middle income ranges are horrified by the idea of getting student loans to fund higher education . But OTOH , I see the same students and parents without any scruples about incurring significant consumer debt - several credit cards , leasing new cars , vactions expensive gold jewelry and precious stones , etc. MedlinePlus MedlinePlus When a college degree virtually guarantees higher incomes generally , why are so many people reluctant to borrow for a limited period of time to get that education ? Serious answers please , I want a better understanding of how you feel from your side of the table .

I do not think people feel and think to themselves "Hmm, I wonder which is better, student loan debt, credit card debt or?" as if those are the choices that have to choose. MedlinePlus MedlinePlus In addition, higher education does not guarantee higher revenues overall. Getting your master's or doctorate can not be, but a BA or BSc reality does not help much. MedlinePlus So people are looking at 6-9 years of the debt, while not working MedlinePlus. Not only that ... college is not fun. First year level studies are quite boring. Many of my teachers note that students are the only people in the world who are happy to not get your money's worth on your purchases. All rejoice when classes were canceled MedlinePlus ... Thus, the value of student loan debt is really knowable only in the long term (if I may judge by my first semester I have left). Consumer debt is much more tangible - ie 'I have this debt, but I have a new car / house to prove' MedlinePlus. With school, all I get is the accreditation of an institution that is considered an authority on accreditation. Diplomas, doctorates ... none of them really mean anything, but for other academics. MedlinePlus MedlinePlus In the MIT OpenCourseWare website, people can study the full curriculum for free, just that there is no credit given for having studied and learned the material. In a number of weeks, I studied several semesters worth of material psychology, understand that someone studying the same subject in college, and yet have nothing to show for it. Buuut, I have the same thing you want out of post-secondary studies -. That is, an education (which could easily be achieved in a fraction of the time if the system was totally efficient) MedlinePlus MedlinePlus Basically, accreditation does not seem like it's worth thousands of dollars in debt and many years of sacrifice and struggle. MedlinePlus Get a student loan is like buying a lottery ticket - there is no guarantee of success, satisfaction or happiness MedlinePlus. MedlinePlus I could get a job in a factory in the city, and earn $ 25 an hour, without any education, high school directly, or could go to school for 6 years and get a desk job where you have to deal with politics and beaurocracy, and make the same amount of money - only for the first time, everything is going to pay my loans! seems a little redundant. MedlinePlus MedlinePlus The school is not that people ahead everything you think. MedlinePlus What I get from the school is not what I put into it. Find more information about the respective fields when they investigate'm studying in my spare time. MedlinePlus MedlinePlus ... In fact, I wrote an article on this last semester sociology same theme, and my teacher failed me on it, as more or less weakened the entire education system. I backed up all my points and all that, but the magazines, and I had to reread it in the room with me, and gave me a B-on it. MedlinePlus Needless to say, I stopped taking sociology, ha ha. Now I'm a great psych / philosophy, minoring in English. MedlinePlus I hate school - and hopefully taking in psychology and philosophy I will be able to find out why! LOL MedlinePlus MedlinePlus Stop smoking and get meaningful work, and have a lifestyle that is not fully consumed by the academic world is very tempting. Approaching the end, people get so brain dead that's all I can talk about is school. The education system is dissolved people's personalities. MedlinePlus MedlinePlus ... So yes, student loans are frightening because they are only worth it when you make a 100% to school ... and the school is not what's so good to be. MedlinePlus MedlinePlus -Rob

I am a student in high school , but I have no plans to borrow in college because it's a burden to have it. You know you have to pay it back , so you constantly worry . Better just pay then, as you will have to pay eventually . MedlinePlus MedlinePlus That's how I am , though. I'm not a procrastinator , so it bothers me when I have to wait to do something (ie pay someone ) . And when they get a job after college , I did not want to have to worry anymore about money . I prefer to do it and get it over with .
