Under the New GI Bill, can service members who chose the Student Loan Repayment Plan now receive the GI Bill?0Ania2012-10-06 17:30:54
I have read the bill , but the gray area is in the "bar to double educational assistance benefits section ." In section B 3322 part reads : MedlinePlus MedlinePlus Inapplicability treated under Service Loan Repayment Program for Education , a period of service count for repayment of an education loan under chapter 109 of title 10 , can not be regarded as a period of service for entitlement educational assistance under this chapter . MedlinePlus MedlinePlus Does this mean that if a service member completes his three years required to pay the student loan, and other services for three years, then you can also benefit from the new GI Bill ? Air Force loan repayment program & GI Bill...?0G2012-09-22 19:30:02
Hello , MedlinePlus MedlinePlus I wondered how these two programs work in the Air Force ( USAF ) . I am currently considering a career in the Air Force . From what I understand is that you can take the GI Bill or the repayment schedule of the loans offered by the AF that pays about $ 10,000 for loans . However, I have read that you can not use both at the same time and have to give up one of the aid. MedlinePlus MedlinePlus I am currently working on a bachelor's degree and I have less than 2 years. As expected I got some loans . However, there are a couple of things ... first I know that if I serve the military, Stafford loans I can reduce some of the deb or blot out . Which means I can use the GI Bill to pay for my flying lessons and have graduated in hand . MedlinePlus MedlinePlus Thanks for any help you can provide on this matter .
Should i take the Air Force Loan Repayment or Post 9/11 GI Bill?0Melyssa2012-10-06 23:01:12
I'm going to enlist in the Air Force with a degree and about $ 40K in student loans . ( 2.7gpa = not sufficient for OTS) MedlinePlus MedlinePlus The Air Force recruiter said the option will Loan Repayment $ 10K ( ~ 7250 after taxes ) . MedlinePlus MedlinePlus I was not really thinking about getting a master ... but it would be a Masters free ( $ 30K ) of the GI Bill be a better option than the loan repayment option ( $ 7,250 ) ?

Is it true that an Air Force Officer cannot receive student loan repayment bonuses?0muthu2012-10-08 14:00:19
I met with a recruiter the other day and told me in no way an official Air Force receive any bonuses student loan repayment . Is this true ? MedlinePlus MedlinePlus After researching for 6 months and asking several people who retired and enlisted (unofficial ) , everyone told me that an officer can receive money to pay off student loans . The recruiter told me that only enlisted men can receive this money . If that's true , then why do you have to have a dregree to be an officer ? I do not understand if she's lying or if the Air Force had just assumed that money if you went to college already . MedlinePlus MedlinePlus I'm not expecting them to pay for everything , but this guy did not want to tell me about any bonus at all. I do not think he was telling the truth . I even said it would take nine months to be elected as an officer . Is it true ? MedlinePlus MedlinePlus If I'm risking my life like any other military person , why not bonds be offered to me? MedlinePlus MedlinePlus I have really wanted to be in the Air Force and I need money for student loans . I have a master's degree in a technical field , so you should not have to go back to school and he said I ought to get the benefits . What I can do?

Student loan repayment through GI Bill...?3Kaity2012-10-09 00:11:03
My husband is in the Army Reserve , and chose the SLR program for their college loans . He has since graduated , has filled out the necessary paperwork for the Army , and have not been in touch with him about it. Is there anything else you need to do to take care of him? Is appearing in your credit score due and unpaid , so the Army has not paid yet (surprise , surprise ) ... How long does it usually take for them to do , and is there anything else I can do to speed things right maybe ? He asked his UA numerous times , and he said that was all he had to do , but that was 4 months ago . MedlinePlus Thank you !
Student Loan Repayment or Post 9/11 GI Bill?3Lakshmi2012-09-23 18:31:02
I was at MEPS last week and just before I signed my contract ( not yet) , I was told that if I get the student loan repayment ( Federal 15k and 5K federal private ), I would not qualify for the draft law post 9/11 GI when I'm discharged after 4 years. However, my recruiter told me I had qualified for before he went to MEPS. What is truth? This is for the U.S. Army . I know that if you get student loan payment , you do not qualify for the Montgomery GI Bill, but what about the Post 9/11 GI Bill?
